Amanda Renteria

CEO, Code for America (CfA)

Amanda Renteria leads Code for America (CfA) as CEO, steering a transformative organization that sits at the forefront of civic technology and digital government innovation. Under her leadership, CfA has emerged as a crucial partner to governments and community organizations nationwide, working to realize the vision of "a government by the people, for the people in the digital age." At CfA, she has championed initiatives that directly impact millions of Americans' lives, focusing on four key areas: strengthening the social safety net, improving the process of tax filing, automating record clearance, and supporting local anti-poverty initiatives. Her tenure has been marked by significant achievements, including the development of an innovative mobile-first tax credit portal to combat child poverty. The organization's selection for the Audacious Project, aimed at modernizing state safety net systems in more than 15 states to improve the experience for more than 10 million people across the country.

Her path to civic leadership reflects a groundbreaking career in public service. As the first Latina Chief of Staff in the history of the U.S. Senate, she served for nearly a decade in federal government, helping shape national policy. Her experience spans executive roles as Chief Operating Officer for one of the country's largest Justice Departments and as National Political Director during Secretary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. Today, she extends her influence through media commentary on U.S. policy and political matters for the BBC and ABC News, while serving on several non-profit boards and government commissions, including serving on the former President's Commission on Hispanic Affairs.

Amanda's drive to improve public services is rooted in her personal story. Born to former farmworkers in California's Central Valley, with an immigrant father, she embodied the American dream through her academic achievements at Stanford University and Harvard Business School. Now she is based in the East Bay in California with her husband, two children, and a worn out basketball hoop!
