Margarita is a founder, connector, and strategic advisor working at the intersection of food, culture, capital, and community. She founded nine public schools across California before becoming one of the top-ranking Latinas in American philanthropy–managing $400M+ in investments at the Crankstart Foundation and leading an $85M portfolio at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. She is the founder of Showoff and the Built by Immigrants campaign. She advises nonprofit CEOs and COOs navigating complex moments of change through Meveo Consulting. She brings the full arc of social impact sectors and knows what it takes to build something that lasts.
 

Born in Mexico City, Margarita immigrated with her family to San Francisco. Her parents were place-makers for the Mexican and broader Latinx community in the Bay Area, producing and investing in music, food, and cultural events. 
 

Today, Margarita lives in Oakland in a multi-generational, bilingual and very extroverted household.
